DATE: 2006-05-10 (01:00 PM - 02:10 PM)
SPEAKERS: Jon Capelli (Highmark, Inc.)

Application programmers and DBAs both have a vested interest in ensuring good application performance. But inevitably performance issues will arise, and it can be difficult to decide where the problem is. Or in some cases even if there is a performance problem. In this presentation we will look at performance terms like synchronous I/O, Getpages and DB2 Class 2 times. We’ll also look at what they should mean to us.

EXP. LEVEL: Intermediate

OBJECTIVES:

What type of performance problem is it?

Some common performance statistics

High CPU - follow the Getpages

High Elapsed time - look at locking and I/O

How to recognize a program loop situation
