Using a Systems Monitoring (Sysmon) database to monitor your Informix installations provides historical data for trending, forecasting, and problem resolution. This presentation shows how the DBA team at Hilton Hotels Corp. created and use the Sysmon database for tracking OS, database, and application statistics. It also demonstrates the web interface they developed for graphing and reporting on the statistics. In addition, the data tracked can be used to look for potential problems and problem resolution.
