DB2 indexing provides your best opportunity for meeting high performance service level requirements. To best leverage this opportunity indexing strategies need to be well thought out and evaluated on an on-going basis. BMC’s SQL Performance for DB2 solution provides extensive functionality for capturing and reporting on index usage across your DB2 environment. This session will discuss using the BMC SQL Performance for DB2 solution to deliver improved response times and resource utilization with more effective indexing. Indexes that not being utilized can be identified. Index usage can be evaluated from the SQL statement and DB2 object perspectives. This session also discusses a recent new BMC SQL Performance for DB2 feature that allows you to model new indexes and evaluate their impact on access path selection at the SQL statement level. The feature is implemented via BMC’s Common Explain.
