MODERATE A SESSION
Session moderators are essential to the success of each and every IDUG conference and you can help. It is also an excellent way to volunteer with minimal impact on your time.
Why not moderate a session that you are already planning on attending? No previous experience is necessary.
The moderator duties are simple and they include introducing the speaker, keeping the speaker on time and collecting evaluation cards.It's an excellent way for you to make a new friend or to make a new networking contact.

Please register for the IDUG DB2 Tech Conference in Berlin by completing the following steps.
1. Go to the EMEA Registration Page and begin registration.
2. Select “Conference Registration Fee (current base price: 1974.00)”.
3. Insert your discount code.
4. Click “Update Price”. The price should recalculate to $0.
5. Click “Ok” and finish registration.
Below are important speaker deliverable deadlines for IDUG EMEA 2012:
- 16 April 2012: Abstracts due to IDUG
- 14 May 2012: Speakers will be selected and notified via e-mail
- 18 July 2012: Draft presentations due to IDUG
- 12 September 2012: Final presentations due to IDUG

IDUG DB2 Tech Conference in Berlin, Germany 2012 Call For Presentations
The International DB2 Users Group (IDUG®) is accepting presentation abstracts for the IDUG DB2 Tech Conference in Berlin, Germany, 4 - 9 November 2012. This is your opportunity to share your DB2 experience and expertise with an audience of your peers who rely on, or are considering incorporating DB2 in their shop. If your presentation abstract is selected to be delivered at the conference, you will receive one complimentary conference registration the DB2 Conference in Berlin, Germany.
IDUG is soliciting presentation abstracts that explore into details of implementation, migrating to a new release, or maximizing performance from any member of the DB2 product family. In recognition of the complex requirements of today’s database implementations, presentation abstracts relating to migration from Oracle to DB2, upgrading within versions of DB2, and new hardware implementations are also being requested. Also, in a change from prior IDUG conferences, presentations for this year’s conference may cover details of DB2 tools and other ancillary DB2 products.
All presentations must be strongly technical in nature, cannot contain marketing content, and must support and strengthen the information services community by providing the highest quality education and services designed to promote the effective utilization of the DB2 and it’s family of products.
The Conference Planning Committee strives to achieve a balanced conference program of business solutions relevant to today’s IT environment and usage of DB2 on one or more platforms (e.g., Windows, Linux, UNIX, z/OS). Some typical sample presentation topics might include:

Submit your presentation abstract
Abstracts can be submitted via the IDUG Web site using the link at the end of this page. If you do have questions, please contact IDUG. If you have already submitted an abstract, click here to view them.
Examples are included below to help you through the process. All presentation abstracts must be received by April 16, 2012 to be considered. Presentations received after April 16, 2012 will not be considered. If you have questions or need more information, please contact IDUG. You will need to log on using your idug.org user ID to submit your abstract. If you do not have an idug.org user ID, you can register for a free membership.
If you are unable to login or have difficulty submitting an abstract, please contact IDUG.
You may submit an unlimited number of abstracts. IDUG will accept two-part presentations. If you have a two-part presentation from another conference, please select "Double Session" in the Call for Presentations Form. It is very important that you provide ALL of the information requested below when submitting your presentation(s) for review. Failure to provide all requested information might impact whether or not the abstract is accepted.
Presentation Title: Titles must be clear, concise, and 50 characters or less.
Abstract: Provide a concise abstract of your presentation, not exceeding 425 characters.
Example: This presentation provides an early look at some DB2 10 features which will be important to you as the Application Developer or DBA. We will start with the basics and demonstrate how they can be an integral part of a good design strategy. This will allow you to start the planning process early and see if/how they fit in your organization.Unlike other DB2 10 Overview sessions, we will focus exclusively on those which impact application development.
If your presentation is selected, this information will be published on the IDUG Web site and in the Final Program distributed to all conference attendees. (Note: Any abstract of more than 425 characters may be edited.) Some presentations may also be selected as repeat sessions.
Speaker Biography: In 650 characters or less, recap your professional and outside experiences as they pertain to your presentation(s).
Presentation Length: Single Session presentations are 60 minutes in length. Double Sessions are 120 minutes in length.
Presentation Category: Specify the category of your presentation. Although your presentation may apply to many categories, some of the most popular are:
- Creative methods for managing database resources
- Managing performance or availability
- Experience with migration from competitor RDBMS to DB2.
- Experiences with data warehousing and business intelligence applications
- Experiences with distributed, e-business and web applications
- Experiences with packaged applications (e.g. ERP)
- Experiences with new releases and features of DB2
- Information Integration (e.g. federated access, replication, etc.)
- Emerging technology (e.g. XML, .NET, SOA, Java, Open Source)
- Complementary tools and utilities solutions
- Application development and implementation
Audience Experience Level: Select the single, most relevant audience level to which this presentation is geared: Beginner, Intermediate to Advanced Users or All Users.
Presentation History: Indicate if this is a new or existing presentation. If it is an existing presentation, please indicate where it has been given and if it contains new and/or updated information.
2013 Conferences: If you would like your abstract to be considered for IDUG Tech Conference North America 2013 and IDUG Tech Conference Australasia 2013 conference, please indicate this using the online submission form.
Permissions and Release: Provide permission to electronically post speaker biography, abstract and five key bullet points on the IDUG Web site and to publish this information in any printed or electronic IDUG conference marketing materials. In addition, IDUG may edit speaker’s abstract, and five key bullet points for consistency, style, and grammar as necessary. Also, provide permissions for IDUG to post your presentation on the Conference Web Proceedings and CD ROM, as well as IDUG Insider.
