Free IBM Certification Exams
IDUG will once again offer all DB2 Tech Conference attendees the opportunity to take a Free IBM Certification Exam while in Berlin! Each attendee may select one exam for free and additional exams will be offered for $25 each.
Exams will be administered during the following times:
- Monday, 5 November: 11:30 - 16:30
- Tuesday, 6 November: 8:30 - 16:00
- Wednesday, 7 November: 8:30 - 17:30
- Thursday, 8 November: 8:30 - 12:30

DB2 10 for z/OS DBA Administration Certification Crammer Course

This course is a certification preparation course intended to help you take the DB2 10 Family Fundamentals exam (610) and the DB2 10 for z/OS Database Administration exam (612). Passing of these exams will result in certification as an IBM Certified Solutions Expert - DB2 10 z/OS Database Administration. Participants are expected to have fundamental knowledge of relational principles in addition to applied working knowledge of DB2 9 for z/OS and basic knowledge of DB2 10 features. This will be a lecture-only class with no labs.
This session offers an intense, overall review of all areas that will be on the certification exams (both the 730 – DB2 9 Family Fundamentals and the 612 – DB2 10 for z/OS), providing a comprehensive review for those planning on taking the certification exams to become an IBM Certified Solutions Expert - DB2 10 for z/OS Database Administration. This course provides details about the exams and was written by an exam author and the co-author of the corresponding DB2 10 for z/OS Database Administration Certification Guide published by IBM Press. The course will include 610 and 612 Exam Details, 610 Exam DB2 10 Fundamentals including DB2 Products, 612 Exam DB2 10 for z/OS Database Administration including the topics of Environment, Controlling Access, Data Structures, Manipulating Database Objects, Advanced SQL, Maintaining Data, Database Recovery, Data Sharing, Performance Monitoring and Tuning, Application Development, Development Considerations, Advanced Functions as well as Locking and Concurrency.
Susan Lawson is an internationally recognized consultant and lecturer with a background in system and database administration. She currently works with several large clients to help develop, implement and tune some of the worlds’ largest and most complex DB2 databases and applications. She also performs Performance and Availability Audits for many clients to help reduce costs through proper performance tuning and to help ensure availability. She is an IBM GOLD Consultant for DB2 and z/Series, and an IBM Information Champion and has authored the IBM ‘DB2 for z/OS V8 DBA Certification Guide’ and the IBM ‘DB2 for z/OS V7 Application Programming Certification Guide’. She is also the co-author of several DB2 books. She is also a SME(Subject Matter Expert) for the IBM Certification exams for DB2 z/OS Database and System Administration assisting with writing and verifying questions for the exams.
DB2 10 for LUW - DB2 for LUW Version 10 Certification Test Prep Seminar

This presentation/learning session will assist in preparation for the DB2 for LUW V10: Database Administration certification test (#000-611). The session is organized according to the test sections and will include coverage of DB2 Server Management (Install and config, the DB2 installation-instances), Physical Design (Physical objects), Business Rules Implementation (view-triggers and there specific settings), Monitoring DB2 Activity (Monitoring tools like db2pd, dyn.adm.views,etc.), Utilities (Details on utilities), High Availability (HADR-backup-restore-logging), Security, (DB2 V10 new security areas) and Connectivity and Networking (CS Connections and trouble shooting).
Guy Przytula started to work for IBM in 1974. In 1982, Guy started in the “software support center” for SQL/DS and VM. He later moved to the “software services” department, executing all kind of services related to “Information Management” products and in special DB2 on LUW and VM/VSE. He also participated in several Redbooks about DB2 for IBM. Since 2006, Guy has been working as an Information Management consultant for Infocura. Over the last 10 years, Guy has also taught IBM courses on DB2 and Infosphere on trouble shooting and fine tuning. He has been the author and presenter of the pre-certification preparation courses at the IDUG DB2 Tech Conference for many years now.
