DB2 for Linux, Unix and Windows : Recent Enhancements and Trends
    Matt Huras

There have been some very exciting new capabilities delivered with DB2 in recent years. New technologies such as DB2 pureScale, Pure Data, RDF, time travel query and several others, have provided innovative solutions to a wide variety of new business challenges. At the same time, hardware, software and application usage patterns surrounding databases continue to evolve rapidly. New memory technologies are playing an increasingly important role. Mulit-core parallelism levels continue to increase. New algorithms for compression and exploiting large memories, have emerged.

What is Big Data in 90 Minutes vs 1,000,000,000 Google Search Results
    Paul Zikopoulis and Alyse Passarelli

Big Data seems to be all the craze this day - quite impressive despite it's horribly misleading name. In this session you'll get a framework to separate the hype from the fiction, discover how to define Big Data and what's need capabilities does a Big Data platform need to deliver. You'll learn about the IBM Big Data platform and how it's made up of multiple processing engines (including DB2!) that are geared towards specific tasks at hand: with integration point throughout. Finally, we'll present some business uses cases for Big Data, to wrap the technology up with value propositions that can be applied to business across industries. Take it this way: on any given day, if you do a Google search on “What is Big Data” you will get over ONE BILLION hits.  After this presentation, you  won’t need to do this search again.
