DB2 for OS/390 JQLJ/JDBC Driver Installation & Config

DB2 for OS/390 JQLJ/JDBC Driver Installation & Config
Need help figuring out how to complete the install for the SQLJ/JDBC
Driver. (Am DB2 V6 for OS/390 running OS/390 2.10 in a non data sharing
environment). The receive for FMID JDB6612 was done when our serverpac was
installed, about a year ago. I just finished up the apply process. The
program directory indicates jDBC/SQLJ is FULLY operational once the SMP/E
installation is complete. No further customization is required to active
the function.
However, the program directory sends me to the /JDBC/SQLJ README file.
More installation steps show up here. Am uncertain how to complete this
process. I don't work much with the HFS files on OS/390.

1.) Adding the db2sqljclasses.zip file to the Java CLASSPATH. HOW DOES ONE
DO THIS EXACTLY?

2.) Adding teh SQLJ/JDBC "lib" directory to the LIBPATH and
LD_LIBRARY_PATH. HOW IS THIS DONE?

3.) aDDING THE sqlj/jdbc "bin" directory tot he PATH setting. HOW?

4.) Optionally modifying the SQLJ/JDBC Driver properties file to reflect
your installation requirements. I know this needs modified. Not certain how
to do this either?

5.) Running the db2genJDBC utility to generate the four JDBC DBRM's and teh
JDBC runtime profile. Haven't a clue how to do this?

I've looked at the Application Guide for Java. It doesn't give me the step
by step information I feel I need.

If you've (suffered) gone through this before, can you give me some
pointers on how to do some of this stuff?

Thanks in advance.
Ruth

(in response to Ruth Sutlic)
Ruth,

All the questions u raised r covered in the DB2 v6 Application Pgm
Guide for Java manual. See chapter 4 - Preparing Java Programs -
Configuring JDBC and SQLJ. It gives u the commands to execute to modify
the PATH, CLASSPATH and other variables. U will need to execute these
from the OMVS session in TSO.

The infm abt db2genJDBC is in Chapter 6. - Customising JDBC and SQLJ to
work together. It creates 4 DBRMs in a PDS, which u then use to bind ur
JDBC plan.

I recently did this process and was able to successfully execute the
sample Java pgm.

Cheers,
Kals

(in response to teldb2kals)
Hi

From 1 to 3 You've to modify your OMVS profile adding in /etc/profile Or
user profile

Update /etc/profile or /u/yourid .profile dataset (environment variables)

export PATH=/usr/lpp/db2/db2610/bin:$PATH
<<<<< bin PATH
export LIBPATH=/usr/lpp/db2/db2610/lib:$LIBPATH
<<<<<< SqlJ lib LIBPATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lpp/db2/db2610/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export CLASSPATH=/usr/lpp/db2/db2610/classes/db2sqljclasses.zip:$CLASSPATH
<<<< JAVA CLASSPATH
export DB2SQLJPROPERTIES=/usr/lpp/db2/db2610/classes/db2sqljjdbc.properties
export STEPLIB=MYDB2610.SDSNEXIT:DSN610.SDSNEXIT:DSN610.SDSNLOAD

as regard 5 you've to execute some scripts in DB2 (OMVS) install directory.

I've a short presentation by Peggy Rather about JDBC/SQLJ customization.
Let me know if you need it....

Thanks for all the responses. I think I have enough to go on to figure out
how to complete this install. I am in the process of printing the manual.
