I like the product - it is as easy to use as their vsam version - You can insert, edit, or delete from tables.Yopu can copy from one table to another. You can load records from one subsystem to another. It does explains with helpful suggestions. Our application staff uses it with ease.

I found the product easy to use for applications people.
I used the explain facility and once got familiar with it
I found it easy to determine some problems.

From the install side ( and I am installing the F/A for IMS
DB2, CICS, ISPF) I found the install to be cumbersome.

No SMP work just download libraries but, it takes some
planning to correctly perform the install. Espically with the
IMS pieces.

I am new to DB2 at least these version my last was V2, but having spent the
last 10+ years with Sybase, MSSqlserver and Oracle that kind of
functionality came with the product in fact they all called it with a
similar name "Enterprise Manager" with some variations. But
insert, delete, update from tables was a basic function.

We use the product with great success. The appl dev folks love it.

Beware:

Some defaults are peculiar/troublesome and cannot be changed:

Insert (instead of load utility) is the default for the load function. This
can cause problems for large loads.
Values (instead of parameter markers) is the default for host variable
replacement in the SQL explain. This can be confusing.

Isaac,

We used this product,

There's somthing fishy about the way it handles RI. In order to load changed
data back into the tables, it is requested an ALTER autorization. As you
might know, this cannot be done to a product, but to a user.

For the rest it is a cool product, however we changed vendors and are using
Princeton's Relational Tools now.
It works fine and blens in very nice with the BMC tools we already have
available at our shop.

Kind regards,

Jaap Slot
