Data conversion from Decimal to Integer

Data conversion from Decimal to Integer
Hi Group,
I have a table whose primary key is Decimal(15).
This table contains records. I need to load these
records into a table of the same structure but in that
table the primary key is Integer.
My first question to the group is that is it possible
to do this. If yes then I would highly appericiate if
anyone has any experience of converting and moving the
data to another table. What steps I would have to
take. Looking forward to wise advice from the group.
Regards,
Syed

Yes, it is possible to do this. DB2 will automatically make the conversion
from DECIMAL to INTEGER. However, you may run into some problems where the
DECIMAL value exceeds the maximum INTEGER value. If the table is not too
large, then a simple INSERT INTO NEW_TABLE SELECT * FROM OLD_TABLE should
work fine. I'd include a where clause to exclude values that are too large.

If you have a large number of rows, then the LOAD utility should be used.
