Oracle to DB2 on OS/390 conversion
Does anyone know if IBM has a utility or a document for converting Oracle to
DB2 v6?

IBM has a white paper on the conversion and also offers a toolkit to
facilitate the conversion effort. It is available on their web site.

We are in the process of converting Oracle to DB2. IBM has a business
partner that has a tool to help in the conversion. They are called Mantech.
You can check out their offering at

The red book, Converting from Oracle AIX to DB2 for OS/390,
SG24-5478, could be useful. Get it from the web.
www.ibm.com/redbooks

The more recent DB2 releases, like Versions 5, 6 and 7 make conversion
easier, across the DB2 family as well as from Sybase, Oracle & Informix.
A number of recent changes to the DB2 family help in migration from
Sybase to DB2.
SQL Procedures Language V5 & V6
Stored Procedure Builder V5 & V6
Save points V6
Identity columns V6
Declared temporary tables V6
Update with subselect V6
Version 7: Union everywhere Management of constraints
Scrollable cursor Row expression for IN subquery
Limited fetch Self-referencing DELETE / UPDATE
Unicode COUNT(expression)
ORDER BY expression Additional Built-in Functions

There was an article on migration to DB2 in DB2 Magazine a couple of issues
ago. www.db2mag.com

There was an interesting paper on the web that discusses conversion
from Oracle Unix to DB2 for OS/390. This was done some time ago,
so converwion from PL/SQL was much harder.

The topic of conversion is a frequent subject at user groups
and education, such the DB2 Technical Conferences, IDUG, Share.
