DDF Question

DDF Question
All,

We are running DB2 v5 and we are making use of Value Control as a
frontend tool and DB2 Connect.
The responsetime is very poor.
A select against a table with 10.000 rows takes a few minutes.
I checked with Omegamon.
The DDF Thread Distserv is most of the time in Status WAIT-REMREQ.

What can I check now ???

The WAIT-REMREQ says the problem is maybe in the network but most likely
in the tool. You must realise that these PC things are built using some
high-level Object libraries, and have really *huge* resource requirements.

Sometimes I work from home, over an ISDN line. So I know that just opening
a "New Memo" (empty email) in Lotus Notes causes 250 kB of data to be
exchanged between the local client and the remote server (for what?
anybodys guess...). Or, just starting MS IE 5.0 to display the intranet
homepage takes 30+ seconds on this 1GHZ, 128 MB PC. Or, when I was using a
PowerBuilder application long time ago, each time it brought up a window,
you could watch it drawing one item after the other....

Re: DDF Question

If you are using workload manager, check the service class for the DDF
enclaves. The default priority is Discretionary (run if no one else is using
the system). I'm not a WLM person, so service class may not be the correct
term.
