Is there a web site or list to scan for early warnings or alerts on

CA's Year 2000 web site (this includes former Platinum products):

http://www.cai.com/2000

You can also track any issue your site creates via Star TCC. Here are
instructions for getting a Star TCC ID, if you do not have one.

Information on StarTCC:

StarTCC is Computer Associates web based issue reporting interface. The
following procedures can be used to sign yourself up for a StarTCC ID,
and receive hyper notification for the products you are interested in.

1) Go to Web page www.cai.com
2) Click on the SUPPORT header tab
3) Under Support Resources, click on Star TCC
4) Click on register online
5) Fill out information about yourself and your company's mailing
address, etc.
6) Fill in your site-ID COMPANY #)
7) leave PIN# blank
8) Write down the userid you entered

Within 24 hours you will receive email notification of your userid and
pin. Once you have received this, you can go back to StarTCC and edit
your profile, create issues, and browse issues. I recommend editing
your profile to indicate the method you would like to be notified for
issues associated to you is email. You can also sign up for hyper
notification, which uses the method you indicated in your profile.

This is all very nice, and IBM has a Y2K web address as I'm sure that most
of the other major vendors have. The problem with this is that I suspect
that most of these companies will probably do some heavy-duty sanitizing of
any information they put on their web sites. We could very easily find that
problems are being handled similarly to how Coke handled their recent
quality problems in Europe, first by denying they had a problem, and later
by minimizing the severity.

I'm planning to rely first on this listserver before I go to the company web
sites. As always, be careful about what you post. Any posting should
describe symptoms as accurately as possible along with any actions taken.
This is not the time for any vendor-bashing.

As they said in Apollo 13, let's focus on the problems.

Happy New year,

Fritz

Re: Question for Platinum (CA)

I was far more interested in seeing issues discovered by my
counterparts in other areas of the globe who hit Y2k before we do.
That way, I could take measures to avoid/mitigate them.
