2) how many locks will be needed for each job.
3) can we altered the irlm. do we has authority to alter it.
4) what is the size of the each irlm lock and what is the space taken by
each lock.

Ravi:

-The number of locks on db2 Batchs jobs depend on the access paths used
by your program (How you going to get the data ? Sequentialy , Ramdon or
How much data you need to move?.( using list prefetch, sequential prefetch,
index scan).

- Another important thing that you need keep in mind is the commit
frecuency and hOW you bound your plans or packages(ACQUIRE(USE/ALLOCATE)
and RELEASE(COMMIT/DEALLOCATE).

- The size per locks is 250 bytes and these locks going to be located
depending IRLM PC=YES (control blocks to be located in Extended Private
Area) and IRLM PC=NO ( control blocks to be located in ECSA) .

-About working without IRLM , I guess that is imposible because the IRLM has
to be up when db2 start , if not , DB2 abends with reason code X'00E30079'.

I hope it helps.
