We are looking for a DBA to fill a new ADVISOR position at my company. They need
to have a strong technical DBA background with an emphasis of expertise in WEB
development. I'm not a recruiter but a Senior DBA who would be working with
this new person. I've been with American Century Investments for the past 10

The primary responsibility of the Database Analyst Advisor is to provide
assistance in the ongoing support of the application development areas, and
define the technical information management blueprint for our business
solutions. This includes leading the development and implementation of
architectural principles and defining technical directions for support of our
Electronic Commerce initiatives. The Database Analyst Advisor will interact with
all levels of the business and Information Technology to apply technical
information management principles.

Major Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership regarding the use of information and object
architecture to solve business problems. Serve as the architect for technical

Assist in the ongoing support of application programming. This includes
providing design consultation, technical support, translation of logical
design to physical implementation, and problem determination assistance.

Team with other IT architectural stakeholders and integrate information and
object architecture with overall IT Architecture and develop standards. (10%)
Provide for recoverability, integrity, and security of our company's data
which resides in the database management systems. (10%)
Provide education as required regarding the proper usage of technical
information management. (5%)
Consult with other IT professionals including data analysts and database
analysts with cross business area model solutions and conversion to physical
implementation. (5%)
Stay current about trends and technologies impacting information and object
architecture and apply knowledge towards technical
infrastructure/architecture. (5%)

Management Experience, Object Oriented Design, technology evaluations and
strategies. At least 5 years in a
technical database leadership position is required.

At least 5 years experience of Database Administration with DB2 on OS/390 in a
client server architecture is required.

Knowledge of advanced database management techniques including binary large
objects, stored procedures, triggers, SQLJ, user defined functions, and user
defined data types is required.

Experience using Universal DB2 on Microsoft NT or UNIX is required.

Experience with project planning and management of complex projects required.

Experience with Database Administration using Oracle on Microsoft NT or UNIX is
a plus.

Knowledge of internet technologies including XML and DXML is a plus.

Knowledge of DB2 OLAP is a plus.

Knowledge of financial services industry a plus.
