drda questions

drda questions
I have been working with a couple of contract people for the last couple of
months on trying to set up drda.
Right now, it looks like we are connecting to the mainframe using the odbc
driver only - is this possible?
Since we have not been able to find any good doc on what is needed to set up
the mainframe security, we have been granting more security than is needed
(possibly) just to get it running on a test lpar system.
I was wondering if anyone on the list would possibly know the answer to the
following question posted to me:

Please tell us:

How to develop a STATICly bound DRDA application that will
execute from the
workstation and what DB2 bind/execute security can we place on
the program.

Presently we are doing dynamic SQL requests from a visual basic program that
we need to provide a TSO userid either in the program code or prompted from
the workstation.  If it is in the program, anyone can see it and they can
change the program.

Re: drda questions
(in response to Marg Gozdowski)
We are also in the process of implementing DRDA. Since TCP/IP is not
activated in DB2 (We are trying to do this soon), the connection from ODBC
driver go through SNA. So you must be using TCP/IP or SNA to reach DDF from
ODBC driver. Since we have not developed any application, right now we
granting public access to package.

Does qualifier and currentdata parameter work for you in a remote bind? it
is not working for us. We are using DB2 V5.1 on OS/390 2.6. This is giving
lot of problem to us because program has to code the Auth-id of the table in
the SQL. Since auth-id is different in TEST and Production, I have to do
some manipulation on the bindagent group. Since bindagent can use owner as
the Grantor, I used auth-id as the grantor.

Does anybody know why qualifier and currentdata is not working in a remote
bind?

thanks
