Long Varchar Question (db2 udb v7.2)
Hi Guys:

Could someone tell me which is the maximum size for a Long varchar. Is
it limited by the db2 pagesize. The reason I'm asking this is because a User
wants to create a table with columns that could even exceeds the 32700
characters and I'm trying to figure oud what would be the best option such
as using long varchar , LOB or any other db2 object. Any comments are really
appreciate.

Dale

Hi Dale
As you length og varchar must be greater than 0 and less than a number that depends on the page size of the table space.the upper limits on the length is:

4046 bytes for 4-KB pages

8128 bytes for 8-KB pages

16320 bytes for 16-KB pages

32704 bytes for 32-KB pages

Dale,

I can only inform you the solution in DB2 for z/OS .
Because the maximum pagesize is 32K, the column
must be defined as CLOB like what you have expected.
