Unload Utility how faster than old DSNTIAUL Pgm

Hi All,
I am just curious how faster is UNLOAD utility(V7.1) then the old dsntiaul utility. If anybody has tried the UNLOAD utility how are the results when compared to dsntiaul.

Thanks,Pawan.

Much, I found in some test the new Unload utility(not the hp) was as fast
as the Platinum unload and in those case where it was not, the IBM unload
was only seconds slower. As far as compared to the DSNTIAUL there is no
comparison.. At least twice plus in our test cases...

Pawan,

I did some minor tests a while ago and found that the unload-utility was up to 4-6 times faster than the dsntiaul program, but haven't done comparisons on a vast amount of data basis.

As an aside, if you want a quick performance boost on "ye olde" DSNTIAUL try
buffering SYSREC. With a decent BUFNO=nnn the SYSREC DD I was seeing 1/2'd
elapsed times on some of the stuff that I was doing a while back. Of course
it will never fully compete w/ a genuine utility, but it can help!

Hello

Re: AW: Unload Utility how faster than old DSNTIAUL Pgm
(in response to Nick Cianci)
There is a comparison DSNTIAUL/UNLOAD in DB2 Redbook Using the Utilities
suite V7 or V7 Performance Topics (The titles are not exactly like this :-)

If i remember well , you gain in CPU but not so much in Elapsed ,
The "hierarchy" is DSNTIAUL < REORG UNLOAD EXTERNAL < UNLOAD

I don't have significant elapsed time gain using UNLOAD in my test
