DB2 Connect V8.1 upgrade to FixPak 4

DB2 Connect V8.1 upgrade to FixPak 4
Hi Listers,

I have DB2 Connect UE V8.1.2 on Solaris V5.8. I have 2 gateways on the same box, so have installed alternative FixPak 4 in order to upgrade them independently. After the db2iupdt from altFP4, the instance will not start, and this is because of incorrect coding in db2nodes.cfg. On investigation, db2licm -l shows that my licenced Connect instance has become a UDB ESE instance on 90 day evaluation, hence the presence of the db2nodes.cfg file.

We do not have UDB ESE and have never installed it - on this Solaris server or anywhere else. I have a long and increasingly complicated PMR open with IBM Support, and the current advice is to 'uninstall ESE'. Difficult when we never installed it! In any case, the installed presence of ESE should not cause my DB2 Connect UE instance to become a UDB ESE instance when db2iupdt'ing from altFP4.

Has anyone successfully upgraded DB2 Connect UE to V8.1.4 from an alternative FP4 install, or come across anything like this before? Very grateful for any advice you can offer.

Regards,

Jerry Long

DB2 Connect
(in response to Jerry Long)
Is anyone using a product other than DB2 Connect to access DB2 data on a
mainframe from a PC? If so how does it compare to DB2 Connect?

Thanks,
Paul
