without rolling forward

without rolling forward
Hi,
I have an offline backup of a database of DB2 V8.14 on linux. The
system was in circular logging while the backup was taken.
Then I change the logging to log-retain.
Now when I try to restore 2 tablespaces from the backup; I always
get "roll-forward pending" even I use "without rolling forward" keyword.

The last command I tried was:
db2 "restore db dbmuh tablespace (TSDK0312,ISDK0312) use tsm taken
at 20031219170517 buffer 4096 without rolling forward" ;

I haven't got the log files.
I also change the logging to circular again;and try to restore but
the result is the same.

Thanks.

Hi,
I send the command :
db2 "rollforward database dbmuh stop tablespace(TSDK0312,ISDK0312)"

Rollforward Status

Input database alias = dbmuh
Number of nodes have returned status = 1

Node number = 0
Rollforward status = not pending
Next log file to be read =
Log files processed = -
Last committed transaction = 2003-12-26-07.13.22.000000

DB20000I The ROLLFORWARD command completed successfully.

But the tablespaces return to BACKUP PENDING state again. :(
Yesterday I tried to roll forward to the end of logs, it couldn't find the
logs eventually.
The same command didn't worked yesterday either.
Why does it want the logs? The image copy was offline!

Re: without rolling forward
(in response to Ferhat þengönül)
Ferhat,

What you could do is:
- Restore the full databasebackup (log-retain was OFF)
- export de tables from the two tablespaces to IXF-files and
- restore the full offline|online databasebackup when log-retain was ON
- LOAD or import the IXF-export-files and
- if you have RI ...check the data
- make a full offline databasebackup

Greetings,

Robert.

Re: without rolling forward
(in response to Smit)
Ferhat,

Backup pending is normal after a tablespace restore.
Just backup the database or the two tablespaces and
you problem is gone.

Greetings,

Robert.
