DB2 Connect (7.1) on aix problem connecting to DB2 7.1 on OS/390 2.10
Hi Gurus,

I am able to connect from a db2connect instance on aix at ver 6.1 to DB2 7.1
on OS/390 2.10. But, when I try
to connect to DB2 7.1 from db2connect instance on aix at ver 7.1 I get an
error saying

SQL5048N The release level of the database client is not supported by the
release level of the database server.

Was wondering if anybody else had similar problem and knows the solution for
this or if I am missing something here. I tried
using OSTYPE in cataloging node.

It generates a error message in the DB2 mainframe log as

00D3101C

Explanation: DB2 has detected an error while processing a connection
request from DDCS. A DB2RA connection request was received from DDCS.

This reason code is issued by the following CSECTs: DSNLCRTD and DSNLIRTR.

System Action: A DDM reply message (SYNTAXRM) is returned to the DRDA
client.

Operator Response: Notify the DDCS system administrator.

I am using the following command to catalog the node & Database :

DB2 CATALOG TCPIP NODE TCPDB2X REMOTE XXXXX SERVER XXXX
DB2 CATALOG DATABASE XXXXX AS XXXXXX AT NODE TCPDB2X AUTHENTICATION DCS

Thanks,

Amit

Are they on a different instance (assuming Unix or AIx ) ?
Did you stop and restart DB2 on the server ?
Did you try 'db2 terminate ' ? command

Try verifying the dcs database definitions with a db2 list dcs directory
on the db2 connect server. If your os/390 db is defined with DCS_ENCRYPT
then you must catalog the database in the DCS directory using something
like
DB2 catalog DCS DATABASE dbname as target-dbname
