Any future plans to allow adding active logs while DB2 is up?

Joan Keemle

Any future plans to allow adding active logs while DB2 is up?
I'd like to know if there are future plans to allow adding active logs
while DB2 is up. The ability to remove them later is also of interest.
We're considering virtual tape for ARCHLOG2, but are concerned about
availability due to ACS outages for maintenance or TMS problems.
Thanks,
Joan Keemle

Hi Joan,
I don't know if IBM has any future plans for
adding/deleting active logs while DB2 is up but I do
know that BMC has a tool called Opertune that we have
been using for several years to
add/remove active logs while DB2 is up with no
problems.

Regards...

The CA toolset can do this as well...

For some reason it's hidden under the 'Unicenter Thread Terminator Main
Menu'

(in response to Steve McAuliffe)
or if you have ANY of the CA DB2 tools licensed then you have complimentary access to the Value Pack (on our P01 release) - one portion of which will allow you to add/remove Active logs without shutting down DB2
