Problem and Performance Concern While Using DB2 V 7 Online REORG in OS/390
Dear All,

We are using DB2 V7 in OS/390 2.10. Our site considers using online REORG
in near future. I would like to have your kind assistance in providing
input on the problems encountered and performance concern on the use of
online REORG in DB2 V7 for our evaluation.

Your input would be highly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,
A Cheng

(in response to Alice Cheng)
Dear Alice,
we have made good experiences using the online utilities.
When you implement them,
make sure that you have a quiet actual DB2 maintenance level.
Make use of the FASTSWITCH option.
Execute them while there are not too many accesses to the objects.
Be careful with partitioned tablespaces, because of the
nonpartitioned indexes (they won't be online for the build 2 phase!!!)
especially in combination with data sharing

If you want to get more details, just contact me offline

Regards

Ulf Heinrich
