Have anyone change the ispf menu of P01E CA-Platinum products

Hello

Have anyone change the ispf menu of P01E CA-Platinum products
Hi all,

I've just installed the new release of CA Platinum products , and the main
menu proposes directly options to update the product parmlib ,
options ...etc -
I would like to hide these options to others users : these options are
protected by granted access to their plan , so all users with sysadm
authority can modify the product parmlib ...

Did anyone have the same concern and can share with me the solution.

Thank you

Daniel

(in response to Hello)
Hello Daniel,

What I've experienced is that most users protect their PARMLIB by having limited access done via TSS, ACF2, RACF etc. The EP command from the main menu will still be accessible but you can't update the PARMLIB values unless you have the explicit dataset authorization.

Kind regards

Re: Have anyone change the ispf menu of P01E CA-Platinum products
(in response to Steen Rasmussen)
To remove the items, simply remove them from the panel
menu (its panel RPM on my system).
If you want 2 groups (sysadm and developers) to see
different menus, each group will need a different
ISPPLIB DD concatenation for their TSO session which
can be done via a logon proc, (assuming the 2 groups
use different ones) , or via dynamic allocation in a
REXX or clist. The ISRDDN TSO command will nicely
list all your session allocations AND let you browse
or edit each one. You'll have to revisit these panels
when you put on maintenance to review any changes CA
may have made that you want/need to incorporate into
your modified version.

Some shops like to hide things people don't have
access to, and others like to leave them on the
screen, so that users know options exist, just in case
they'd find value in them in the future, even if
they're not the ones who do the actual change.

Re: Have anyone change the ispf menu of P01E CA-Platinum products
(in response to tim malamphy)
Tim, what level are you at? We're at P01E, and the menu is completely
inaccessible to us -- panel RPM is just a shell. There was a problem early
on in our implementation where "B" (for batch processor) wasn't working and
the circumvention was to type BP instead. When I insisted that they tell me
how to make the panel show BP instead of B, it involved zapping two modules,
and it still didn't work -- after zapping them, the panel showed BP all
right, but typing BP gave you the same wrong panel that B did before
zapping. They have since fixed the problem, but my point is that the panel
is closely intertwined with the programs that it calls, and it is a
non-trivial change for CA to update it, and impossible for customers. I had
put an enhancement request in to CA (number 12916240) to make it
customizable, but as usual the support center found a way to close it
without doing any work. Don't expect to see this improve any time soon.

Regards,
Cathy Taddei

Re: Have anyone change the ispf menu of P01E CA-Platinum products
(in response to Cathy Taddei)
For what its worth:
We are putting in P01E here and ran into some security concerns especially with the Value Pack option TT. What we did was turn on 'external security' so non-DBA's could NOT get into the TT option and change any settings. We were told by CA that you could change other authority issues by just revoking access to certain PLANS but we have not been able to figure that one out yet. Didn't seem quite as easy as they made it sound. But our setup was a little different too.
Anyways, we have TT locked out now.

Cathy-
You're certainly correct at level P01E. I wrote my
response based on previous experiences with hiding
options. Looking closer at RPM, I see it's been
gutted. mea culpa.
