Unload Only "bug"
Hi Guys,

Has anybody got any APAR to point me to for this quirk I found just lately.
We're on V5 - OS/390 on put 9906. (I think)

1. Table had Alter Table Add columns added (about 5 columns). Tablespace
consists of 16 partitions.
2. Reorg Tablespace .... PART 1 SORTDATA UNLOAD ONLY done.
3. After some interval, LOAD DATA LOG NO RESUME YES FORMAT UNLOAD INTO
TABLE ... PART 1 REPLACE undertaken - rc=8 with all rows discarded with
message saying column so-so (1st column alter added) could not be loaded as
end of row found. So frustrating when you find that you cannot load back
what you'd just unloaded and what's worse is the old data had been zapped
(REPLACE keyword).

Sure enough, I find that the unload file created had a recl of 399
(recfm=VB) but the particular rows unloaded ended at a length of 315 only
(It did NOT pad with blanks till end). Managed to load back the data by
copying the unload file onto an FB file which effectively blank-padded the
rest of the data serving as the space default of the columns added in. Only
then did the Load work.

Any hipers on this? Maybe this is an effect of the UNLOAD EXTERNAL APARS?

TIA,
Ven Ilagan
