Omegamon II question

Omegamon II question
Colleagues,

This is one for anyone with Omegamon II V520. I'm trying to trace the
issuing of DSN commands, specifically -STA and -STO commands. I see
performance class 10 (not an audit class, as I was 1/2 expecting) captures
'bind, commands, and utilities detail'. The IFCIDs are 90 and 91 for DSN
commands, but that's by the by. What I want is a nice shiny report that'll
tell me who issued what DSN command when.

Omegamon will show me (via the Command Stats panel) that all sorts of
commands (25 start database commands, 6 alter bufferpool commands, etc) have
been issued, but won't show any detail. I've tried starting an 'IFCID Trace
Facility' trace, and it works up to a point. Examining the trace file, I
can see myself having issued a command of some sort, but I can't 'zoom' into
the results to get any more info. The GUI just shows blank detail lines,
while the Classic says, 'O21135 APPLICATION TRACE UOW SUMMARY HAS NOT
LOCATED SUFFICIENT TRACE DATA TO PRODUCE A DISPLAY (ATRCATVC)'.

Omegamon II seems to want to capture trace output to a VSAM LDS, which makes
browsing the file a bit difficult, but the data seems to be in there
somewhere. I'm going to wait 'til tomorrow when the SMF records are cut (I
started a TRACE(PERFM) CLASS(10) DEST(SMF) trace) and see if I can't extract
the raw data that way, but does anyone know if/how I can get Omegamon II to
tell me what's going on?

Cheers, and TIA,

(in response to Raymond Bell)
Raymond, we had the same issues here. What I did was to start a trace on
IFCID 90 and 91 and write it to SMF, then on a daily basis I produce a
report with Omegs historical Reporter, It produces a crude but usable
report. Here is the control statements.

//O2RPARM DD *
SET GLOBAL
ERRORS IGNORE INPUT
FOR TIMES 00:00-24:00
SELECT IFCID =
0090 <<<--------- You will have to add 91 here
REPORT
INPUT RECDMP
OUTPUT
TO H2REPORT

The other thing you can do is to turn on IFCID TRACE from the main panel of
Omeg (option I), You then can see the IFCID's 90 and 91 on a realtime
basis.

Re: Omegamon II question
(in response to Rich Gugel)
Rich,

You're a genius. Omegamon was really yanking my chain on this. It would
gather the info, but then play dumb on reporting on it. I could _see_ the
raw data in the VSAM trace dataset Omegamon wrote but the $odding thing
wouldn't report on it. Aaargh! Come back DB2PM, all is forgiven. Anyway,
I waited for the SMF records to be dumped overnight, extracted the day's
records and ran the O2 report you suggested. Worked just like a bought one
(i.e. fine, in case you're not familiar with that expression). The report's
a bit fugly but at least it's readable and the info is there. So I'm off to
get the perfm class(10) trace started automagically via Zparms.

Thanks again,

PS. Martin, can you guess what BP still has our DGTT database? It's on the
list of things to do...
