DB2 question about high allocated RBA

DB2 question about high allocated RBA
When DB2 creates a tablespace, it allocates primary and secondary space values. However, in release z/OS 1.5 when it gets to the end of extent, DB2 passes a High Allocated RBA value to the media manager instead of letting the media manager use the secordary space value that DB2 assigned when the data set was created. Can anyone tell me why DB2 calcuates this high allocated RBA value instead on letting the media manager use the secondary space value? Why would it be any different then the current RBA plus the secondary space value?]

Thanks

(in response to Duane Reaugh)
Because DB2 doesn't always ask for a secondary to be create exactly as
it is defined in the ICF catalog - and this gets worse (or better
depending on your perspective) in Version 8.

For example, if you have a pageset on a single device and the device
starts to run short of contiguous free space, DB2 will ask for smaller
secondaries so that dataset extensions do not fail.
