db2 for aix, encryption question
Hi,

We are developing an application that is going to encrypt sensitive data in a few table columns. In the application we are using the SQL functions.
However, we are also going to add data to the tables from csv files using either load or import. Does anyone know how we can encrypt data added in this way?

Regards,

Martin Flavell

(in response to Martin Flavell)
Martin,

The IMPORT utility, unlike the LOAD utility, supports triggers, so you should be
able to create a trigger that invokes the encrypt function after an insert is
performed on the table. You can then use the IMPORT utility to add your data.

Whether this will provide acceptable performance is an issue that may arise,
depending on your particular application and your needs.
