01004 SQLSTATE

Georg Peter

01004 SQLSTATE
Collegues,

after a simple select we ran into the following warning:

SQLWARNING ON SELECT COMMAND, FETCH FUNCTION

RESULT OF SQL STATEMENT:

DSNT400I SQLCODE = 000, SUCCESSFUL EXECUTION

DSNT418I SQLSTATE = 01004 SQLSTATE RETURN CODE

###########
DSNT416I SQLERRD = 0 0 0 -1 0 0 SQL DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION

DSNT416I SQLERRD = X'00000000' X'00000000' X'00000000' X'FFFFFFFF'
X'00000000' X'00000000' SQL DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION

What does the SQLSTATE 01004 mean ? And what causes this SQLSTATE ?

Any comments, thoughts, experiences are highly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

With kind regards - mit freundlichen Gruessen,
Georg H. Peter c/o

This translates to a +445 SQL code - "value xxx has been truncated".

Re: 01004 SQLSTATE
(in response to Michael Ebert)
Hi Georg,

When casting character strings (other than CLOBs) to a character string
with a different length, a warning (SQLSTATE 01004) is returned if
truncation of other than trailing blanks occurs.

Regards

Gerhard
