SDSNLOD2

Richard Arnold

SDSNLOD2
Z/OS 1.4, DB2 V7

We are in the process of configuring SDSNLOD2. In the past we included
the SDSNLOD2 modules in SDSNLOAD. Now we are going to use 2 datasets,
SDSNLOAD and SDSNLOD2.

From my research, it appears that inclusion of LOD2 in the started tasks
(MSTR, DIST, DBM1, SPAS, WLM) is not necessary. I also find no mention of
including LOD2 in the steplib of application jobs.

The V7 manuals only mention LOD2 in the "Application Programming Guide and
Reference for Java(TM)", in the section about configuring the SQLJ
properties file.

Can someone please verify this? We want to ensure that we have all of the
details before we proceed...

Thanks in advance.

Re: SDSNLOD2

We have DSNLOD2 allocated to our Z/websphere address spaces only. Been
running that way for a couple of years with no issues.

Re: SDSNLOD2

Richard,
the only reference of SDSNLOD2 at our site is in WLM
application started tasks and in the Websphere started tasks.
There is no reference of SDSNLOD2 in any of the DB2
started tasks.

Re: SDSNLOD2
(in response to Stephen Vagnier)
Rich,

Per the Installation Guide, ADSNLOD2 / SDSNLOD2 contain JDBC and SQLJ
DLLs. If you use neither of these, then I guess you don't need the
datasets :)

That said, I would hesitate to move the modules in SDSNLOD2 to SDSNLOAD.
Any PTFs or maintenance on those modules will go into the LOD2 library,
and you'll have to remember (!) whenever you APPLY maintenance to copy the
new modules out . . . and then un-Copy them if you backout the
maintenance.

I would strongly recommend that you maintain separation of the modules in
the two datasets.

Re: SDSNLOD2
(in response to LL581@DAIMLERCHRYSLER.COM)
SDSNLOD2 is a PDSE (!!) while LOAD can be PDSE.
We have it in some WLM environments and also in the USS environment variable STEPLIB.
We also have it in CICS for JDBC.
