Bonnie Baker
International DB2 Consultant

Morning: A DB2 Self-Audit Guide

The job of ensuring good DB2 performance can be a difficult one,
but there is information available that can make it easier.
The purpose of this seminar is to tell you where you can look,
define the information that is available, and explain how to
interpret that information. With a better understanding of this
information, the performance of DB2 programs can be improved.
In this seminar Bonnie will share many of the techniques
that she uses in her consulting engagements. And of course,
she'll uses analogies and war stories to make the concepts
clear and easy to understand.

Afternoon: Program Performance from the Outside Looking In

Sometimes we just don't have time to change program code to
improve performance. There must be something applications developers
can do outside of program code to improve response times
and shorten run times. This seminar covers the impact of BIND parameters;
data organization; index, table, and tablespace design;
DASD placement; bufferpool issues; data and RID sort space; scheduling;
and the phases of the moon on program performance. Bonnie will use
analogies, war stories, and lots of illustrations to give you a "from the
trenches" map for improving program performance.
