DB2 for z/OS v7.1 and z/OS v1.6

Sandra Lakenburger

DB2 for z/OS v7.1 and z/OS v1.6
Our MVS team is planning to start rolling out z/OS v1.6 early next month.
Are there any known issues with it and DB2 v7.1? The only maintenance I
remember specifically seeing was PQ89821/UQ90558, but since our DB2
maintenance level will be at least RSU0411 by the time any z/OS upgrades
occur, I think we've got that covered.
Thanks
Sandra Lakenburger

DB2 V7.1 and Z/OS V1.6
(in response to Sandra Lakenburger)
Does anybody have any idea what type of performance/functional
improvements you could quantify for DB2 V7.1 by upgrading
from an environment running with Z/OS V1.4 on Z900 box to running with
Z/OS V1.6 on a Z9 box; assuming the same #engines and MIP's
between old and new configurations. I know that there are improvements for
DB2 V8 when upgrading to Z/OS1.6 on a Z9 box but I was wondering
if there was any for DB2 V7?

I think you will need to clarify. The z9 uniprocessor is about 3 times
faster than the z900 uni, something like 35% faster than z990. So you
would either have the same number of engines or roughly the same
horsepower (most likely the latter). There is a small extra bit of help
with APAR PK08744, if you are using data stream encryption.
