Calling BMC Fast Unload from CA-Migrator Strategy

Douglas Hecht

Calling BMC Fast Unload from CA-Migrator Strategy
I am receiving a Return Code 20 when attempting to execute BMC Fast Unload
from the CA Batch Processor. I can run ADUUMAIN natively (outside of CA)
including the same libs I'm using in Batch Processor, the same exec parms,
and the same control card specifications, and it completes successfully.

(The $ORTPARM DD resolves to
BMSG,MSG=AP,SIZE=1024K,VSCORE=1024K,VSCORET=8192K)

Am I calling ADUUMAIN incorrectly or is there an obvious syntax error here?
Is there a possible undocumented compatibility issue here?

Thanks.

standard APF auth issue would be my guess. call BMC support for the full

Re: Calling BMC Fast Unload from CA-Migrator Strategy
(in response to Douglas Hecht)
The third party products (BMC and CA) tend to be piggish with memory.

Without more messages...RC20 does not say much.

But, my gut feel is...throw some serious memory at this.

Get all the below the line storage you can get.
Then, talk to your MVS guys to find out how to get your above the line
storage up too.

Start out with 100-150MB above the line and go from there.
Watch out for multi-tasking. Memory specified in your $ORTPARM gets
applied to EACH subtask.
It can add up quick.

Best of luck,
faz

Re: Calling BMC Fast Unload from CA-Migrator Strategy

Thanks. Definitely going to look into this. I've noticed the 20 Reason Code
seems to point to memory problems elsewhere , i.e., I've seen it happen in
ISPF, although the doc simply categorizes it as a 'systems error.'
