Presentation Overview

Buffet of information and tips for making DB2 applications perform better. Included is information on how DB2 and application programs work together as well as hints and tips for improving application performance. Topics include SQL and Index matching, Ugly SQL, unexpected mystery locks, and many other tips for solving problems. Bonnie uses war stories and analogies to make difficult concepts easy to understand.

Speaker Biography

Bonnie Baker is a consultant and educator specializing in applications performance issues on the DB2 OS/390 and z/OS platforms. She is an IBM DB2 Gold Consultant, a five-time winner of the IDUG Overall Best Speaker award, and a member of the IDUG Speakers' Hall of Fame. She is best known for her series of seminars entitled 'Things I Wish They'd Told Me 8 Years Ago'.

Second Speaker
Bonnie Baker - Bonnie Baker Corporation

Presentation Overview
Program Performance from the Outside Looking In

**NOTE** This is an afternoon session!
Sometimes we just do not have time to change program code to improve performance. There must be something applications developers can do outside of program code to improve response times and shorten run times. This seminar covers the impact of BIND parameters, data organization, index, table, and table-space design, DASD placement, buffer-pool issues, data and RID sort space, scheduling, and the phases of the moon on program performance. Bonnie will use analogies, war stories, and lots of illustrations to give you a "from the trenches" map for improving program performance.
