DB2_PARALLEL_IO
Anyone know where the DB2_PARALLEL_IO parm should be set on AIX? Is it set
in everyone's profile or just the instance profile, OR ??

Paul,

The DB2_PARALLEL_IO parm is a DB2 registry variable that you set with the
db2set command. To set it at the instance level, simply enter the following:
db2set -i DB2_PARALLEL_IO=ON. To se all registry variables, enter: db2set
-all.

OK, thanks Mike. One more question:
We were getting the following message (a ton of them) on the DB2DIAG.LOG -
will they go away once we get the new database created with db2set -i
DB2_PARALLEL_IO=ON?

Here is the message on the db2diag.log
String Title:SMP OPT PID:54330 Node:000
SS not SMP-parallelized. Reason 180.

Paul,

The -i specifies that every database in the instance will use parallel IO.
The message in your db2diag.log looks like a CPU not IO parallelism message.
I'm not sure why this is occurring. One question might be, did you create this
database via a redirected restore from another machine of different
configuration? If so, you will need to set the database manager configuration
parm CPUSPEED to -1. Then stop and start DB2. This will cause DB2 to
recalculate the processor(s) available to it. Hope this helps,

-Mike.
