DB2 v8 SQL PL

DB2 v8 SQL PL
In creating SQL Stored Procedure. How can a user display data? In COBOL Stored Procedure you can use the DISPLAY verb and it would send message to WLM. Is there an equivalent command for SQL Stored Produres?

Ramon,

I am not aware of z/OS SQL Procedure verb that function like Cobol DISPLAY
which send data to the SYSOUT DD of the WLM Address Space.
Do you need it to trace the execution of your SQL Procedure?

Re: DB2 SQL PL

No free Redbook. If you just want the syntax, see the SQL Reference
Manual for your version of DB2.

There's also: DB2(R) SQL PL: Essential Guide for DB2(R) UDB on on
Linux(TM), UNIX(R), Windows(TM), i5/OS(TM), and z/OS(R)
ISBN: 0131477005

Re: DB2 SQL PL

Try:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8//index.jsp
use the search on the left side to find commands, the search on the
right in the black area is for documents.

Re: DB2 v8 SQL PL

Ramon,

Not that I know of so we coded a COBOL SP that does the DISPLAY for SQL
SPs. It takes an input parm of message_text and displays it out with
timestamp and user id.

We only have this SP in test as we have found DISPLAYs (CEEMOUT too) cause
performance problems/abends so we strongly discourage them in QA and Prod.

Hope this helps.
