Dropped Table Question
Hello All,
DB2 V8, Zos 1.6
I have a tablespace with two (2) tables. When I attempted to use DSN1COPY
with a image copy and copy only one (1) table I get DSN1970I message. If I
include both OBIDs for both tables the job work.
Questions:
(1) Why should I have to include both tables OBIDs?
(2) Is there another way to recover just one table in a tablespace that has
more than one table.

TIA

Ed.

Re: Dropped Table Question
(in response to DB2information@AOL.COM)
1) Because you are recovering the tableSPACE and not the table
2) No (sorry)
2a) Well, there might be if you have an unload utility that can unload
table rows from an image copy. You could then use this unload file to do
a LOAD RESUME (after a total DELETE of the table)

Re: Dropped Table Question
(in response to Phil Grainger)
dsn1copy works at a physical level (outside DB2), not a logical level, and processes everything it encounters in the tablespace (even references to dropped tables at times).
You may be able to create 2 new tables in a new tablespace, run dsn1copy to the new tablespace using obid translation. Then unload the data from the new table that corresponds to the one you want, and load it, with LOAD RESUME after deleting the data from the original data. Don't use LOAD REPLACE as this wipes out all data in the tablespace (including the other table).
