In the CICS region check your DB2Entry. This shows the Plan assigned to
each transaction ID.
Tis also contains the parameter for AUTH checking.
TX = transaction needs EXEC on the PLAN
SIG = subsystem ID needs EXEC on the PLAN
GRO = IBM Group needs EXEC on the PLAN

If there is no entry here check the DB2Conn. There is a PLAN here that is
used if no DB2Entry is found.
The usual default from IBM is DEFAULT.
The AUTHID and AUTHTYPE also determine what needs EXEC on the default plan.

Sometimes if every transaction in the subsystem uses the same plan, the
CICS Systems person will substitute an actual PLAN name.

I suggest that you RTM for these entries

We are running DB2 V8 in compatibility mode and we have a problem with a
CICS transaction accessing DB2. We are experiencing intermittent security
failures with CICS transactions attempting to access a DB2 plan called
DEFAULT. We do not have any plan with a name of DEFAULT but the only way we
can get this transaction to run is to put an ACF2 rule in that allows the
CICS authid to execute this plan.

Does anyone know what causes a CICS transaction to execute using a DB2 plan
name of DEFAULT and how it works when the plan does not exist.

Re: DB2 for Z/OS Plan Name 'DEFAULT'
(in response to Carol Anne Sutfin)
Carol & Rich,

Thank you for this information. I am checking into the DB2CONN settings
and will work with my CICS group to setup a proper default name. I
believe what is happening is the application code is using EXEC CICS
LINK and we are returning back to the DB2 program with the CICS transid
set to something other than the transid that is in the RCT entry. This
is probably why the failure is intermittent. The best solution is to
ensure that all transids for programs being linked to from a DB2
transaction are included in the RCT entry.
