Hello John -

I don't know if you have any kind of Log Analysis tool available (from
CA, BMC,Rocket, IBM,.....), but every time I'm in doubt of what kind of
tables/columns being updated, I execute the tool I have available (you
probably can guess which one), to see exactly what is being updated. If
you don't have a log tool available - please send me the exact RUNSTATS
statement you're executing and I will be more than happy to describe
which columns of which tables being updated :-)

Re: MVS - KEYCARD populates ?
(in response to William Favero)
John,

If you run RUNSTATS with REPORT Y it will tell you what it's doing. I
suggest you run it with and without KEYCARD and see what the difference
is.

AFAIK the additional updates are all to tables SYSCOLDIST and, if
partitioned, SYSCOLDISTSTATS, with column TYPE set to 'C'. The first time
you use KEYCARD, the rows will be inserted - so all the columns are
affected. FREQUENCY and FREQUENCYF will be set to -1.

FREQVAL updates the same tables, except with TYPE = 'F' and with CARDF set
to -1.

Hope this helps
