[DB2-L] DB2 Monitor Program

[DB2-L] DB2 Monitor Program
Depends on how you are connecting to DB2

I wrote something once that was started up by the DB2 startup JCL, but
invariably tried to connect to DB2 before DB2 was ready - so it failed.

THEN I found that when you do a CAF connect you can post an ECB as well.
Now, if DB2 is not up when you connect then your connecting program can
wait for the ECB to be posted, then retry the connection. At the same
time, you can post a shutdown ECB - you will then be notified when DB2
shuts down

Not sure there is anyway to do this from DSN though, sorry

Subject: [DB2-L] DB2 Monitor Program

Hi and Happy New Year to all!

I'm writing a DB2 V7 monitor program that waits on certain IFCIDs, and
then records audit information. It should be up as long as DB2, which
gets recycled weekly. I haven't found out a way yet how to signal the
program when DB2 is coming down, so I can bring down my batch job (under
DSN processor). I would have thought there was an IFCID that indicates
'shutdown' , but I haven't found it yet.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks,

Irwin Deutsch
