Anyone else want this course (CF850)?

Philip Sevetson

Anyone else want this course (CF850)?
I'm looking around for a classroom-taught DB2-for-z/OS _System_
Administration course. IBM's offering of this comes in two flavors, one
much less technical than I want, the other not on their schedule at present.

The technical course syllabus can be found at:
http://tinyurl.com/ygocr4
Is anyone else interested in this course? If I can get enough people
willing to come to New York or some other logical gathering place, maybe we
can get IBM to schedule the course. Alternately, if someone's willing to
host the course, maybe one of the Gold consultants or other seasoned veteran
and instructor would be willing to step up (my shop doesn't have a space for
a computer-assisted course).

Re: Anyone else want this course (CF850)?
(in response to Philip Sevetson)
Yes, I have an associate who needs this class. I was going to send her
to CF851, because the catalog and schedules gave the appearance that IBM
was replacing CF850 with CF851, and shortening it by half a day. But if
they really are two different classes, I would want her to attend CF850.
We're on the west coast, so New York would not be my first choice. What
is the minimum number for whom they will schedule a class?

Thanks,
Cathy Taddei

Re: Anyone else want this course (CF850)?
(in response to Cathy Taddei)
Hi Cathy and Phil & list,
Although I don't teach the DB2 Systems classes, IBM has revised
its systems curriculum [see:
http://www-304.ibm.com/jct03001c/services/learning/ites.wss/us/en?pageType=page&contentID=a0000365

] to replace CF850 with CF851 and a new class CG850, an
Implementation Workshop for the install or migrate to V8 function.

The other two systems classes are for DB2 Systems Tuning [CF881] and
a tuning/analysis course [CG881].

The CF910 Disaster Recovery Workshop is a must [each student crashes
her own DB2 subsystem!] for those doing DR. Hope this helps. LK

I've been asking for this course to be made available on DVL but to no avail so far. We are on the north east coast also, but unfortunately it's England.
