[z/os] LOBS and empty strings
Hi list,

we have a problem with a BLOB column, and so two questions:

if we insert a lob with 0 length, or we do an insert with no value in the
lob column (BLOB NOT NULL WITH DEFAULT), the result is the same? i think
yes, an empty string, but DB2 insert a column in the aux table?

how can we know the meanings of the flags stored in the base table in the
lob field (varchar 4)?

thanks, regards

PS.My English is not that well as I am not a native speaker

(in response to Ivan L)
Ivan,

check the Redbook 'LOBs with DB2 for z/OS: Stronger and Faster'. It
explains the meaning of the flag bytes on page 33 (3.1.3 Manual creation of
objects, section A few more details about the base table).

Hope this helps.

Have a great day !

Patric
