ADMIN: UPDATE/FAVOUR

ADMIN: UPDATE/FAVOUR
As promised here is an update concerning issues some people have experienced recently with the DB2-L listserv.

1) The issue SEEMS to be caused by a series of BOTS that are scanning the listserv. The very nature of many of the search engines on the web, is that they use these bots to scan for and index items on their portal. However it seems that this can also cause the server to slow down as it process these type of requests. And this is what SEEMS to be what is happening. I highlighted SEEMS as the jury is still out on this. We are working with the software vendor that we use to try to fix/eliminate/correct/address/define the issue or issues. This, as you can imagine is not an easy process. For those who are interested about this process, find more info at the following web site

2) If you do experience an error, try the following. Wait a couple of minutes and re-try. While this may sound like the 'standard' answer, it actually works. As I mentioned it is the load that is causing these problems (we think) and since there maybe a stop to whatever the server is trying to process, thus helping to decease the load in question. Now I have tried this and it has worked for me.

3) ALSO as a help. if you do experience any errors please let us know. Please include all relevant information including any screen shots and the time you tried. Please forward this to the following mail site

[login to unmask email] <mailto:[login to unmask email]>

this is the list used to contact the listowenrs (which includes myself).

On the subject header please put the type of error and when it happened.

I do not guaranty that we will respond to every message (we do also work for a living <S>) but rest assured that we are going to use this information to help find and correct the problem.
