Ralph,

Make sure that you have ALL the PTF's applied.
There was a problem with the R11 software not reading the results of the
-DISPLAY command correctly for V8.
Especially for partitioned tabalespaces.

I don't remember what they were but you can search the Knowledge Base for
the problem.

We use Unicenter R11.5 Dataset Facility Volume Summary to move DB2 datasets
between volumes.

Under DB2 V7 & 8 a partitioned tablespace must have a partitioning index
and any other indexes on the same table are 'automatically' created as
logically partitioned indexes.

Under DB2 V8 the display command puts 'L*' in the part field for every
logically partitioned index.

***********************************************************************
Command: -DISPLAY DB(AITEGIPS) SP(PZT*) LIMIT(*)
***********************************************************************

NAME TYPE PART STATUS PHYERRLO PHYERRHI CATALOG PIECE
-------- ---- ----- ----------------- -------- -------- -------- -----
PZT TS 0001 RW

-THRU 0032

PZTX0 IX 0001 RW

-THRU 0032

PZTX1 IX L* RW

PZTX2 IX L* RW

******* DISPLAY OF DATABASE AITEGIPS ENDED **********************

Under DB2 V7 the display command only put an entry 'L...' in the part field
if a logical partiton was broken, eg, Rebuild Pending.

The Unicenter R11.5 Dataset Facility Volume Summary generates DDL for the
objects to be moved and on execution generates a 'DISPLAY' statement for
every object. Because there is now an 'L*' in the part field, Unicenter
presumably 'identifies' a problem with that object and the job fails. DB2
V7 only put a status entry in this field if something was genuinely broken.

The Unicenter-generated job produces the following error;

Computer Associates Dataset Facility V11.5 - MOVE Utility

18.25 (C) 2005 Computer Associates International, Inc.

-DISPLAY DATABASE(AITEGIPS) SPACENAM(PZTX1 ) LIMIT(*)

DFE00004: AITEGIPS.PZTX1 STATUS UNKNOWN - CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE.

-DISPLAY DATABASE(AITEGIPS) SPACENAM(PZTX1 )

DSNT360I -DEV3 ***********************************

DSNT361I -DEV3 * DISPLAY DATABASE SUMMARY

* GLOBAL

DSNT360I -DEV3 ***********************************

DSNT362I -DEV3 DATABASE = AITEGIPS STATUS = RW

DBD LENGTH = 262472

DSNT397I -DEV3

NAME TYPE PART STATUS PHYERRLO PHYERRHI CATALOG PIECE

-------- ---- ----- ----------------- -------- -------- -------- -----

PZTX1 IX L* RW

******* DISPLAY OF DATABASE AITEGIPS ENDED **********************

DSN9022I -DEV3 DSNTDDIS 'DISPLAY DATABASE' NORMAL COMPLETION

RETCODE = 8

Has anyone experienced this problem, and if so how did you resolve it?

Hello Ralph,

Did you check SupportConnect or called Support about this issue :-) I
had to ask this question.

PTF's have been released to correct this issue. For r11 the PTF is
UDFE035,

and in your case under r11.5 the PTF is UDFF045.
