[z/OS DB2 V8] CA Log Analyzer DFSORT S0C4
Hi Adam,
I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing what you did to get this working
again - I am experiencing a very similar problem at the moment.
Thanks,
Graham.

Hi Graham,

I'm guessing Adam didn't follow my original suggestion... He'll have to derrame las habas in his own good time.

Cheers,

Raymond

Graham - we were getting the problem when trying to generate DDL for a
dropped object. By going step by step through the process as described in
Chapter 15 of the LA manual, and using an AUTHID filter, we were able to
generate the DDL for the missing object without a problem. I still don't know
why we were getting the abend - I had narrowed the time window down to
less than a minute to save trawling through lots of log records - and we were
filtering on SYSTABLES & SYSTABLESPACE but the sort was still abending

Señor Don Ramond - ¿derrame las habas?...... hmmmmm....

Cheers, Adam

Re: [z/OS DB2 V8] CA Log Analyzer DFSORT S0C4
(in response to Adam Baldwin)
On further investigation, I realised that the system I was running LA on has
tablespaces with 32k page size where a single row can take up a whole page
(in our case using a LONGVAR 32,650 plus a handful of small fields). I hadn't
applied any filter options (apart from time) as I was just investigating high
logging volumes.

LA seems to handle this OK in its Log Extract processing, but I suspect that
DFSort can't handle it when it gets to the Log Reporting. Whether that's a
problem with LA or DFSort, I'm not yet sure.

When I ran again on a specific plan (avoiding the 32k rows) everything was ok.

Graham - did you see Phil's reply to my original post?

"Title: LAE0032E & S0C4 OR S0C1 ABEND

Description:
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Log Analyzer job abend with error message
LAE0032E & terminated with S0C4 OR S0C1 when it was tried to process null
VARCHAR column.

This is on r11.5 and was closed on 5th December"

It may be worth looking at your current maintenance level.

Cheers, Adam
