SV: [DB2-L] DB2 Z/OS - Load library requirements for stored procedures ?

Hi Kals,
1. PDS works but It's great to have the storproc load libraries defined as PDSE's because you don't need to run compress on them.

2. No problem with secondary allocation as long as you don't need to have the library in the linklist, an active library in the linklist which takes an extent will not work without manual actions.

Hi,

Our storproc load libraries on z/os are defined as PDSE, with secondary allocation 0.

I am not sure if this is just a coincidence, or if there is any specific performance reason for this. Is it OK to define it 1. as a PDS, 2. with secondary > 0 ?

Thanks,

Regards,
Kals.

Not quite true.
An active PDS in the link list taking an extent is a problem.
An active PDSE that takes an extent is not an issue.
Link list is managed by extents, so a single PDS with no extents is considered to be 1 extent.
A single PDS with multiple extents is considered to be multiple extents within the list.
A PDSE is always considered as a single extent, regardless of how many extents the library is in.
