We're not. We bought DB2 9 but downloaded 7 and 8 as Torrents. Had to leave my PC on all night to do it too. I must get broadband.

As an IBM business partner the fee schedule is not like what you would
have as an end user customer.
So if it is a financial question you have then I would go back to your
IBM account manager for an answer.

Re: z/OS - Many DB2 Versions on same LPAR
(in response to Troy Coleman)
This is all very interesting. In the DB2 Version 9.1 install manual it says
the following about early (ERLY) code:

"If your system is at the prerequisite maintenance level, your Version 8
early code is upward compatible with Version 9.1. The Version 9.1 early code
is downward compatible with Version 8."

And the Version 8 manual said:

"If your system is at the prerequisite maintenance level, your Version 7
early code is upward compatible with Version 8. The Version 8 early code is
downward compatible with Version 7."

Being somewhat cautious I've always suspected that these statements imply
that early code that that is compatible with Version 9.1 and Version 8 is
not necessarily compatible with Version 7.

So far living with this implied restriction has been workable for us - it
has been convenient to spread or DB2 sub-systems around LPARs. The times
are changing and we will soon be in a position where running three versions
of DB2 in one LPAR would be quite handy (customers, customers).

So, have we been too cautious?

Chris Bowen
The usual and any other convenient disclaimers apply...
