Is it possible to do PIT crash recovery in db2 udb V8.2 on LUW ?

Depends on what you mean by "PIT crash recovery". If the database instance "crashes" and the db parameter LOGRETAIN is set to RECOVERY, the database will perform crash recovery to the point of failure when the instance is restarted. If you take an online full database backup, you can restore the backup and issue a rollforward command to the PIT desired using the db2 log files.

Crash recovery is set at the db level by the autorestart db cfg parameter. It is enabled by default, and generally should be left at the default. In the event of a database crash for whatever reason, DB2 will perform crash recovery when it is started again, which will cause any committed pages that were in the bufferpool at the time of the crash to be written to disk and will also back out any uncommitted transactions. pg
