DB2 z/OS V8 NFM - is Inline Statistics supported on some Catalog index es?
Anybody else notice this?

In the sections of the DB2 V8 Utility Guide under REORG INDEX and REBUILD INDEX, for the STATISTICS parameter it specifically says:

"You cannot collect inline statistics for indexes on the catalog and directory tables."

Yet, it appears you CAN collect inline statistics for indexes on some of the Catalog tables. The only ones disallowed are the indexes for the tables in SYSDBASE, SYSSTATS and SYSHIST.

I've only tried this on REBUILD INDEX of Catalog tables, not REORG INDEX, but I'm assuming they both work the same.

For example, this works fine:
REBUILD INDEX(ALL) TABLESPACE DSNDB06.SYSDBAUT REUSE
SORTDEVT WORK SORTNUM 8 SORTKEYS
STATISTICS KEYCARD FREQVAL NUMCOLS 1 COUNT 10
FREQVAL NUMCOLS 2 COUNT 10 FREQVAL NUMCOLS 3 COUNT 10
FREQVAL NUMCOLS 4 COUNT 10 FREQVAL NUMCOLS 5 COUNT 10

Yet this gets the error "DSNU629I - DSNUCINT - INLINE STATISTICS IS NOT SUPPORTED FOR SYSDBASE":
REBUILD INDEX(ALL) TABLESPACE DSNDB06.SYSDBASE REUSE
SORTDEVT WORK SORTNUM 8 SORTKEYS
STATISTICS KEYCARD FREQVAL NUMCOLS 1 COUNT 10
FREQVAL NUMCOLS 2 COUNT 10 FREQVAL NUMCOLS 3 COUNT 10
FREQVAL NUMCOLS 4 COUNT 10 FREQVAL NUMCOLS 5 COUNT 10

I would think both would get the "not supported" message.

Is this a doc error?
