SQL from DB2 Admin Tool
Hi All

Env: DB2 V9 CM on z/os

For Db2 Admin Tool Users,

Invoke: DB2 Admin Tool >> DB2 Administration Menu 7.2.0 >> DSN_Name
System Catalog >> DSN_Name Table Spaces

And this will list you the table spaces based on the selection criteria
specified from the DSN_Name System Catalog menu panel.

Line command "SM" is used to display the space statistics for the table
space. The "SM" option displays information about the tablespace along
with the VSAM datasets utilization - VSAM KB Alloc,VSAM KB Used, Pct
Usd,VSAM Exts.

I am guessing that the Admin Tool is querying some Admin Tables and the
DB2 catalog to get the VSAM information. Does anyone have the underlying
SQL statement used to query the VSAM information displayed - VSAM KB
Alloc,VSAM KB Used, Pct Usd,VSAM Exts

For Non-Users of DB2 Admin Tool,

I believe that if your are not using RTS and the RUNSTATS/STOSPACE are
not current, you have to rely on the LISTCAT info the derive the space
allocated and space used,
I would like to know if you have used SYS1.SAMPLIB(IGGCSIRX) or some
other CLIST/REXX to come up with some way of extracting the space usage
report.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Cheers,

Anil

Anil,
any SQL monitoring tool ( like Query Monitor ) can capture any SQL executed
against DB2 being monitored, you just need to adjust thresholds...(not sure
if this is 100% legal - is SQL generated by a tool considered to be a
proprietary code ?)

The DB2 Admin Space Manager function uses the Catalog Search Interface
(IGGCSI00 not LISTCAT) to capture the VSAM catalog information.
