DB2 LUW load running slow

DB2 LUW load running slow
We have a load running on a server that is running DB2 LUW 9.7. This load runs fairly fast processing about 150000 rows per min.
when its running alone. We another job kicks in the load job slows down significantly. from 150000 rows per minute to 5000 rows
per min. It apprears that some type of governer is working on the load job when another non utility type job is running. I cannot find any documentation of this feature. We have yet to install the workload manager. Does anybody have any thoughts on what can be changed to correct this problem. We want some utilities to run in the back round but others we want left alone. Thanks,

George, disk performance is more likely the culprit, or CPU. Take a look at vmstat and IOSTAT when the first and second load is running. Also check the messages file for each load and see if errors being generated. Commit count, savepoints, etc can also effect load performance. PG

The dbm cfg setting UTIL_IMPACT_LIM throttles utilities. It can be set
globally (db2 update dbm cfg using UTIL_IMPACT_LIM 25), for a specific
utility (db2 backup db prod ... UTIL_IMPACT_LIM 100) or for a currently
running utility (db2 set UTIL_IMPACT_LIM for 13 to 50). Setting it to 100
disables the throttling
